Cardio Log

The Cardio Log is where you will track your cardiovascular workouts. To build your cardio workout for the selected day, drag & drop or double-click exercises in the cardio exercises list.  Note: To add to or edit your cardio exercise list, use the Training Maintenance section of BodyTrans. The Duration, Distance, Average Speed, Average Heart Rate, Total Calories Burned, and Intensity fields are set to only allow numeric entry by default. You can change that behavior in the Application Configuration screen to allow you to enter free form data in these fields. However, it is recommended that you only enter numeric data in these fields so that you can later analyze your cardiovascular workouts in the BodyTrans Analysis section.  After entering your planned data, you can print out your cardio workout by selecting Print from the File menu or by clicking the Print Workout link.

The Cardio Log

Cario Log Column Explanations

  1. ExerciseName - Enter the name of the exercise to be performed. You can type anything you want here but it is recommended that you add exercises from the Cardio Exercise list so that the calendar on the home page displays a cardio icon for the selected day. The exercises in the cardio exercise list come directly from the data entered in Training Maintenance. So you can control the exercises shown in the cardio exercise list by editing, adding, or deleting exercise definition entries in Training Maintenance.

  2. Duration - Enter the amount of time spent on this exercise, usually in minutes.

  3. Distance - Enter the distance traveled for this exercise.  This may not apply to some cardiovascular machines and you can leave it blank if it does not apply.

  4. AvgSpeed - Enter the average speed for this exercise.  Again, this may not apply to some cardiovascular machines and you can leave it blank if it does not apply.

  5. AvgHeartRate - Enter your average heart rate for this exercise.  This entry is optional as well.

  6. TotalCaloriesBurned - Enter the total calories burned for this exercise.  This entry is optional.

  7. Intensity - This column can be used for "level" or "program" used on some cardiovascular machines.  Keep in mind that you can track this number in the BodyTrans Analysis section so use whatever number makes the most sense for you.

  8. Notes - In this column, input anything you wish. You might want to put your "program" number here or you might want to write yourself a reminder to do something different in your next cardio workout.

Import Functionality

This feature is a real time-saver. Notice the Import Cardio Training Data link in the upper right part of the Cardio Log table. Once you have entered a workout, you can later re-use that workout without re-typing all of your data. When you click that link, a screen appears that allows you to select a workout day to import into the current day in view. After the import, you can simply adjust the data to meet your needs. Voila! You're ready for your cardio workout.

Re-order Functionality

This feature allows you to move exercises up or down in your workout list.  For example, you might hit the Elliptical Trainer before you go for a Swim.  If you want to make sure it shows up in the proper chronological order in your cardio log, you can use the Up or Down Arrows at the top of the Cardio Log to change the order of your exercises.  Before you click the Up or Down arrow, make sure you have selected the entire exercise row by clicking the "row selector" of that exercise.  The row selector is the area just to the left of the exercise name. Note: You can select multiple rows to move by clicking the row selector and holding down the mouse button as you move up or down to other rows.  You can also use the Ctrl or Shift keys to select multiple rows just as you might do in Windows Explorer to select multiple files.
